Production Blog

The music video has been completed! Many hours of filming, planning, and editing were poured into this, and I am proud to say the final product is finally finished. I believe the music video came out rather nicely and the collaboration of all of the team members made it a great project. The filming process was fun, as it involved my team and me going to the fair. This resulted in the mood of the music video being very lighthearted and fun. The music video tells a story of a group of friends having fun at the fair. The song of choice, "Good Days", matches this because, well, the friends are having a good time at the fair. Across the music video, many activities are portrayed, such as the fair games, waiting in line, walking around, etc. These activities emphasize the diversity of the time spent with friends. As the editor of this project and an actor, I can gladly say this music video has come out with as much creative expression as my team and I desired!

Trouble In Paradise

After several days of planning and filming, it was finally time to edit. When creating our storyboard I made little notes on things we should add during the editing process to better our music video. To make the music video look high definition we use the cinematic setting of the iPhone 13. All clips and takes shot were sent to our designated editor Jacob. At first, I reviewed each take we go to see which would look best in our music video. Keeping in mind the concept of our music video is to be having a good day we deleted all takes that looked inauthentic. The scenes I shot without the actions knowledge were very useful since they appeared more genuine. It was time to upload each scene into iMovies to finally start the editing process. IMovie is a user-friendly software great for beginner editors who are still finding their way. They have information portals to learn how to do several editing tasks on their software. Their cooperation with apple products allows an easy transfer of clips and media through devices. On their software, they have various editing options for transitions, sounds, cuts, even appearance changes. Today's goal was to finish editing about half of the music video. The first thing I suggested when editing is to cut each video to meet the assigned time limit. Although cutting the video also helped with smoothly connecting each clip. While Jacob was working on editing I helped convert the “ Good Days” song into an mp3 track to later submit into iMovie. This editing software quickly imports the soundtrack and doesn’t distort it in any way. Decisions made for the editing process were consulted by the rest of the group to get group approval. We will continue the editing process another day. Today was useful to start the basic editing after seeing what progress made I would take the night to come up with ideas. I took this role since I filmed I had prepared visions of the final product. My visions will be used throughout the editing process to get our final result.

Good Days On My Mind

Filming has always been a process I have enjoyed. My passion for filming is the reason I was assigned as the designated filmer. My ideas flow well and it inspires creativity for my group. On today's day of filming, we went to the fair. Driving to the fair was very difficult and traffic moved very slowly. However, finding parking was very easy due to paid parking spots being provided. The original plan was to follow our storyboard as closely as possible. We still implemented this concept except when we imagined high-quality scenes. For instance, when heading from the parking space to the fair, Jacob manifested a great idea. His idea was to film our actors looking at the fair from behind them. Through the camera lens, the shot looked perfect and we were ready to move on. We followed the storyboard as precisely as possible. Similar to our past filming day, our actors struggled with remaining in character. A solution I made for this problem was to film them secretly to relieve the robotic feeling. For each scene, I filmed from different angles, shots, camera movements to keep and delete which takes we like. I filmed each actor walking to each fair ride, getting their wristbands, participating in fair games, and even eating food. During the filming process of filming, I was able to capture iconic shots like the Ferris wheel and even a high-angle shot from the Ferris wheel. Although we were filming for the assignment and the concept was to pretend like you're having a good day, we truly had fun. We had lots of laughter and new memories that we were able to capture on film. As it was getting later at night, the lights of the fair enhanced the quality of the scenes. The lightning change made our film colorful and bright. Gradually throughout the film, you could see the sky getting darker and the lights getting brighter. It was truly a mesmerizing sight. The final scenes we filmed were the actors leaving the fair in a group hug. Showing that they truly had fun.

A Good Day of Filming

Today is the day! from planning, researching, to now filming today we get to put our visions into a music video. To prepare for the filming production I used our storyboard to review the order of our music video. When planning our group and I scheduled several days to film. The dates we chose were during Thanksgiving break. This break was the perfect opportunity to go out and film while not distracting us from schoolwork. The day during the break we chose to film was November 23 on a Tuesday. This day was specifically chosen to fit all of our schedules since I had work and other group members had planned as well. We met up at the local Starbucks near my house since I lived the closest to the setting of our music video. The setting we decided on was the Broward County Fair. The beginning of our music video showed three teenagers getting into the car to go to the fair. In The background, there was a Starbucks sign essentially implying that they just got drinks and it's the start of their “good day”. We had to retake this shot several times due to the awkwardness of being recorded. This is something we struggled with throughout the filming production so I had to secretly film our actors Lucy, Jacob, and Willow without them knowing so the video would appear authentic. The traffic to get to the fair was very bad. I took this as the perfect opportunity to get shots of Jacob driving and a shot of the fair while driving past. I used this take as an establishing shot. We spent most of today's production period organizing our scenes and reviewing what was filmed. Allowing us to film another take of a scene or even remove scenes as a whole. This was essential for our next filming day to further continue our music video.
